One of five veterinary colleges in Canada, the Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC) is the only institution in Atlantic Canada educating Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM). Since their graduating class in 1990, AVC has been a fully accredited college by both the Canadian Veterinary Medicine Association and the American Veterinary Medicine Association.

The AVC provides DVM students the opportunity to learn general surgical techniques including routine small animal surgical procedures such as spays and neuters. Having a Canadian supplier for the procedure drape packs allowed for the AVC to provide students with the equipment they needed for their junior surgery cases while staying within budget and with quicker delivery times.
